Delta Hockey Academy (6) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (2) U17 PrepÌý

 

The U17 Prep clash between Delta Hockey Academy and Pacific Coast Hockey Academy remained a razor-thin affair through forty minutes of play. Casey Pearson (4G) scored to tie the game 2-2 with less than three and a half minutes to play in the second period, and once the third period hit, the Delta squad that at one point trailed 2-0 ran away with the game. After his goal late in the second, it took Pearson less than ninety seconds of the third period to give Delta their first lead of the game, and he wouldn’t stop there. Colton Brum (3A) set up Pearson for his hat-trick goal before Pearson sealed it into the empty net with his fourth goal of the game.

 

Notre Dame Hounds (1) vs Edge School (10) U15 PrepÌý

 

It was a close game through one period. It was a close game through two periods. But once the puck dropped for the third, Edge School’s U15 Prep squad took the game from the Notre Dame Hounds and very quickly took it very far away from Notre Dame’s hands. The one-goal lead through one and the two-goal lead through two periods for Edge School was blown open in the third. Matteo Dufour scored a hat-trick in the third period alone, and three assists from Brody Antignani brought his season totals to 37 points in 14 games.

 

RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (6) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (4) U17 PrepÌý

 

Nearly twenty minutes of scoreless hockey in the first period of Friday’s U17 Prep game between RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg and the Northern Alberta Xtreme unfolded prior to Eli Piquette’s late strike, giving NAX the lead, but in the twenty minutes following, the nature of the game flipped entirely. The second period saw six goals hit the back of the net, with NAX’s lead not only dissolving, but flipping around. RHA Winnipeg led 4-3 through two, and come the third, Conner Lamb (2G) and Murphy Johnston (2G) would both score their second goals of the game early. The lead was too wide for NAX to make up with RHAW’s Brady Robert (33/37), holding strong with nine stops in the third period.

 

Bishop’s College School (10) vs CIH Academy (2) East U18 PrepÌý

 

Bishop’s College School started the game in the same manner they’d continue to play throughout: dominant and successful in besting CIH Academy. BCS scored three in less than three minutes early in the first period, and even then, the first was the most evenly-matched of the game. BCS finished the game with ten goals on 67 shots, led by Mavrik Legault’s (3G, 1A) hat trick and four points from Bastien Michaud (1G, 3A). Despite Bishop’s offensive control, Emerson Tebay (39/41) still had a busy night in between the pipes, staying strong to keep Bishop’s well in front.

 

Delta Hockey Academy (0) vs Yale Hockey Academy (4) U15 PrepÌý

 

Yale Hockey Academy controlled the first period of their Friday evening clash with Delta, but from there on out, Delta outshot Yale 28-22 over the last two periods. Yale’s offensive dominance in the U15 Prep division have been winning them hockey games, but in this one, Yale’s goaltender Gavin Craig was the big difference. He made 32 saves on 32 shots in the game, and Yale’s inevitable offensive firepower rewarded him. Connor Baines (2G, 1A) and Teagan Dernisky (1G, 2A) scored three points each in Yale’s shutout victory.

 

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (9) vs Shawnigan Lake School (1) Female U18 PrepÌý

 

Shawnigan Lake School’s Female U18 Prep squad scored the first goal of the game against RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna. Just past the eight and a half minute mark, SLS led, and led for five minutes and four seconds of the hockey game. That was until Alida Korte (4G, 1A) scored on a penalty shot to tie the game up, before scoring again less than five minutes later to give RHAK a 2-1 lead. Close game to the break, but with the score 2-1 at the start of the second period, RHAK took the game and ran away with it. Korte scored two more, added to by Kennedy Sisson’s fourteenth goal of the season and four assists from Raeya Mackie.

 

St. George’s School (4) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (6) U15Ìý

 

St. George’s School scored three in the first period, but save for that, RHA Kelowna controlled the U15 clash. SGS managed to take a 3-1 lead into the end of the second period, but RHAK’s offensive domination eventually broke through in the form of five consecutive goals. Landen Gray (1G, 2A) led the way with three points.

 

South Alberta Hockey Academy (13) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) Female U18 PrepÌý

 

The winner of the game was pretty much settled in 122 seconds of Friday’s clash between South Alberta Hockey Academy and Pilot Mound Hockey Academy’s Female U18 Prep squads. SAHA scored three in the first 2:02 of the game, and didn’t stop there. Six SAHA players scored three points each, with Taye Baker (2G, 1A), Teylor Crocker (2G, 1A), Maria Facca (2G, 1A), Sara Murdoch (1G, 2A), Kapri Coston (1G, 2A), and Riley Bourque (3A) leading the way to SAHA’s massive victory.

 

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (5) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (6/SO) U18 PrepÌý

 

The U18 Prep clash between Pilot Mound Hockey Academy and RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg swung in both directions. RHAW led 2-0 and 5-3 at different points in the game, but PMHA’s top guns came out firing. Knox Burton (2G, 2A) and Collin Friedrich (2G, 2A) scored late in the third to drag the game to overtime, and in the same way the sixty-five minutes played out, the shootout was a back-and-forth thriller. Atticus Cruz (1G) eventually delivered the knockout punch in round six for RHAW’s 6-5 win.

 

OHA Edmonton (5) vs Notre Dame Hounds (2) U18 PrepÌý

 

After Ben Shaw’s (2G, 1A) shorthanded goal in the first period gave OHA Edmonton’s U18 Prep team the lead, Notre Dame could only catch up to but not surpass OHAE. Shaw’s goal late in the second made it 3-2 OHAE, and his team would score two more in the third. Jihwan Kim scored his first goal of the season in the third to provide insurance, and Brayden Tucker (1G, 1A) snapped his five-game goal slump.

 

OHA Edmonton (5) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (2) Female U18 PrepÌý

 

Two statistics are key to consider in the Female U18 Prep clash between OHA Edmonton and the Northern Alberta Xtreme. Obviously, the statistic that matters most is the scoreline, with OHAE winning 3-0 by the time the sixty minutes ceased. If you’re trying to further discern, though, the way the game unfolded, the scoreline is not nearly as indicative as the shots on goal. A 3-0 final score doesn’t indicate the lopsided game the way the 54-7 shots on goal margin in OHAE’s favour does. All in all, the most credit is deserved by the losing goaltender, with NAX’s Ayla Whitney making 51 saves. On the other side, Emma Skolney needed to go just 7/7 for the shutout win.

 

Prairie Hockey Academy (4) vs Edge School (6) U17Ìý

 

Prairie Hockey Academy and Edge School’s U17 clash Friday evening unfolded like a see-saw teetering in both directions, with both PHA and Edge dominating different parts of the game. At the end of the day, though, Edge made better on their stretch of control. PHA controlled the first, leading 3-1 through one, but Edge School scored four straight goals after that. Kayden Bartole (2G, 2A) and Easton Armstrong (1G, 2A) led the way in Edge School’s eventual 6-4 win.

 

Notre Dame Hounds (1) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (3) U17 PrepÌý

 

The U17 Prep clash between the Notre Dame Hounds and South Alberta Hockey Academy started quick thanks to SAHA’s top dog. Victoria Royals prospect Carter Gilchrist had a four-goal game last weekend, with his goal early in the first now making it six in his last four games and sending SAHA on their way. Brendan Espersen scored later in the first to make it 2-0, and Notre Dame couldn’t make their way back. Paxton Smigelski’s 18 saves on 19 shots were essential in SAHA’s victory.

 

St. George’s School (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (9) U18 PrepÌý

 

Okanagan Hockey Academy’s U18 Prep squad poured the pressure on the St. George’s School net throughout, but through forty minutes, SGS stayed right in the game. OHA led 3-1 through one before St. George’s hit back to make it 3-2. That was temporary, OHA took a 4-2 lead, and come the third period, the floodgates opened. Maxx Parfitt (2G, 2A), Eli Tverdovsky (1G, 2A), and Luke Edgehouse (5A) cashed in huge as OHA scored five third-period goals en route to a 9-2 win.

 

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (4) vs Shawnigan Lake School (0) U15 PrepÌý

 

RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna dominated Shawnigan Lake School in the first period, outshooting their opponents 16-3, and unfortunately for Shawnigan Lake, they could never catch up to the head start RHAK built early on. Jaxon Lodge (1G, 1A), Ben Tyssen (2A), and Berkeley Reid (2A) cashed in with multi-point efforts, and Max Davis picked up a 29-save shutout for RINK’s 4-0 win.

 

Yale Hockey Academy (4) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (6) U18 PrepÌý

 

Yale Hockey Academy and RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna’s U18 Prep clash was an extremely evenly-matched game, but ultimately, two players made the difference in the game in RHAK’s favour. The back-and-forth game was settled by three straight RHAK goals in the midst of proceedings, with Ryan Sadovia (2G) scoring two early in the third to add to Carson Smith’s (G) hat-trick in RHAK’s 6-4 win.
