Edge School U15 earned a hard-fought 4鈥�3 overtime victory over Northern Alberta Xtreme on Friday night, grinding out the win despite being outshot and tested late. NAX struck first when Cohen Aquino (1G) finished an early chance, but Edge responded quickly as Colton Roussel (2G) buried his first of the night to tie the game. Then Northern Alberta Xtreme regained the lead on a power-play marker from Jesse Zhu (1G). In the second, Edge answered again when Nash Klimpke (1G) capitalized to even the score, before Rykker Kurka (1G) gave NAX their third one-goal lead of the game. Late in the frame, Roussel continued his strong night, snapping home his second to tie the game and send everyone to OT where Nixon Reid-Dinning (1G) ended it at 2:14. In goal, Carter Gideon (24/27) stood tall with 24 saves, helping Edge withstand sustained pressure and secure the overtime win.听

OHA Edmonton听(7)听vs Notre Dame Hounds听(1)听U15听

OHA Edmonton put on a dominant performance Friday night, overwhelming Notre Dame 7鈥�1 while firing 75 shots on goal. The pressure showed听immediately, as Kingston Ireland (3G, 1A)听opened the scoring just 19 seconds in off feeds from Cohen Courchesne (1G, 2A) and Hayden Condie (3A), setting the tone for what followed. The second period turned into a decisive stretch, with Kole Imlay (1G) striking early, Marek Fetter (2G) scoring twice in a seven-second span, and Courchesne (1G, 2A) adding his touch before Ireland capped the frame with a power-play goal to make it 6鈥�0. 鈥淒avid and Goliath鈥� is about the kind of situation STAR Hockey Academy found themselves in on Friday. Yale Hockey Academy had won 16 of 17 in the U15 Prep division going in, while STAR had lost 16 of 18, making this a contest of contrasts. STAR can鈥檛 be faulted for their efforts to start, with David trading blows with Goliath for the whole first half of the hockey game. The dam finally broke, though, with Yale blowing the game open after Mason Cumiskey鈥檚 (3G, 1A) second-period go-ahead goal. STAR couldn鈥檛 stay in the game in a third period that saw Yale hit their net with 40 shots. YHA鈥檚 big gun fired off four goals, with Parker McMillan scoring a natural hat-trick in the second period to bring his season totals to 35 goals and 38 assists so far.听听

Okanagan Hockey Academy (9) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy Black Female (1) U18 Prep听

 

The Okanagan Hockey Academy and Okanagan Hockey Academy Black Female U18 Prep squads play twice head-to-head this season, with Friday鈥檚 game following the two teams鈥� first meeting on November 28. On that day, OHA dominated, winning 4-1. Friday鈥檚 game followed a similar trajectory, evidenced by OHA scoring two shorthanded goals in less than two minutes early in the first period. Three points apiece from Marin Deadmarsh (2G, 1A), Sara Gerdel (1G, 2A), and Audrina Freeman (1G, 2A) led the way for OHA, who managed to limit OHAB to just 12 shots in the game in a 9-1 win.听

OHA Edmonton鈥檚 U17 squad won their first game of 2026 in overtime, besting North Shore 2-1, but save for that, it had been a crushing January. They went on to lose four straight games, all of which were very tightly-fought but ultimately seeing OHAE on the wrong side of a close game. Unfortunately for them, that story persisted into Friday. OHAE produced the bulk of the game鈥檚 scoring chances, but at every turn, ran into RHAW鈥檚 DJ Mecas (49/49). To Maxime Poitras鈥� (28/29) credit, the OHAE goaltender stood on his head at times as well, and was a big part of what carried the game into overtime scoreless. With 43 seconds left, Arcadian Anderson did an excellent job at holding possession of the puck in the offensive zone, drawing multiple OHAE defenders to him before sliding the puck to Jake Thorsteinson with some space in the middle. Thorsteinson scored to win it for RHAW 1-0 in overtime and earning Mecas an excellent 49-save shutout win.听

Edge听School听(4) vs听Northern Alberta听Xtreme听(6) U15 Prep听听

 

Edge School and the Northern Alberta Xtreme鈥檚 U15 Prep squads both return to 黑料不打烊 action following the John Reid Memorial in St. Albert, a tournament which was won by NAX for the second consecutive year. 鈥淐hampionship Hangover鈥� is a very real phenomena in sports, referring to a team or players struggling to return to 鈥渞egular鈥� games after such a jubilant point of their season. NAX looked at risk of succumbing to said phenomena with Edge School taking a 2-0 lead into the second period. As it turns out, though, NAX managed to get their legs back underneath them in the second, with goals from North Gilbertson and Justin Castonguay 19 seconds apart, quickly dragging NAX back to even ground. Emmett Abel would go on to score two in the third, rending Edge School鈥檚 formidable effort ultimately in vain, as NAX prevailed 6-4.听

Notre Dame听Hounds (0)听vs听Edge听School听(4) U17听听

 

Edge School鈥檚 U17 squad have been borderline unplayable this season; in 24 games prior to Friday, they鈥檇 only lost twice. However, one of those two losses came at the hands of the Notre Dame Hounds, who play Edge thrice in Calgary this weekend. The first of those three games on Friday belonged to Edge School, starting with the strong foundation provided by an excellent performance from Chase Miles (31/31), who shut the door early and consistently in net for the Mountaineers. Notre Dame played a disciplined game, but unfortunately, were made to pay on both of Edge School鈥檚 two powerplays. Easton Armstrong and Devin Kian Shape (1G, 1A) scored on them in the first and second periods, respectively. Carter Greaves (1G, 1A) and Curtis Troeger (1G, 1A) added goals, and Miles stopped all 13 of Notre Dame鈥檚 third-period shots to cap off his 31-save shutout and his team鈥檚 4-0 win.听

Prairie Hockey听Academy听(7) vs听Notre Dame听Hounds听(0) U18 Prep听听

 

Prairie Hockey Academy won big against the Notre Dame Hounds in Notre Dame鈥檚 most recent game. The two provincial rivals play a total of five times this season, with Friday marking the third and Notre Dame鈥檚 opportunity to pick up their first head-to-head win. A ruthless PHA first period put those hopes to bed early, with four goals hitting the back of the Notre Dame net in a twenty-minute span that saw Prairie pump 25 shots the other direction. Prairie let their foot off the gas a little bit as the game went on, but still won in dominant fashion, with seven different goal scorers factoring in to a 7-0 victory. 听

Northern Alberta听Xtreme听(1) vs听OHA听Edmonton听(9) Female U18 Prep听听

OHA Edmonton鈥檚 Female U18 Prep squad have been borderline unplayable this season. They鈥檇 won 20 of 21 heading into Friday, something NAX would have been acutely aware of, with OHAE鈥檚 three games prior to Friday all wins over their city rivals. The OHAE dominance continued early, often, and clinically. Avery Sam (3G, 1A) scored a hat-trick within 26 minutes of the game鈥檚 beginning, with her performance added by another hat-trick from Riley Cooper (3G, 2A) and four assists from Ryann Chimera. OHAE ended the game with a 9-1 win.听

RINK Hockey Academy听Kelowna听(4) vs听Okanagan Hockey听Academy (6)听U17听听

Okanagan Hockey Academy鈥檚 U17 squad have been tough to beat this season, only faltering in regulation four times in their 26 games heading into Friday鈥檚 clash with RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna. At the halfway point of the game, it looked like RHAK had the upper hand, successfully subduing their opponent with a 3-1 lead. A pair of second-period OHA power plays turned the game on its head, though, starting with Nathan Marques (1G, 3A) scoring his 30th goal of the season. Marques then set up Cole Schellenberg (1G, 2A) to tie the game, with OHA鈥檚 special teams only factoring in more from there. Thomas Biggerstaff scored shorthanded, and Kohlby Foster scored a shorthanded and a powerplay goal, respectively, in 62 seconds to extend OHA鈥檚 lead further than RINK could make up. Tyler Donaldson (2G, 1A) scored the insurance marker late to secure his team a 6-4 win.听

Wenatchee Wild Hockey听Academy听(6) vs听Shawnigan Lake听School听(4) U18 Prep听听

This month, the world of teenage hockey saw Sweden snap a 14-year slump by winning the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship for the first time since 2012. Wenatchee鈥檚 U18 Prep team came into Friday facing down the prospect of snapping an ages-long slump of their own, having lost听all of听their听previous听22 games this season. However, much like the Swedes, Wenatchee finally won. Six different players stepped up with goals for Wenatchee, with Tyce Thorson鈥檚 (1G, 1A) third-period tally standing as the game winner in his team鈥檚 6-4 win. Tyler听O鈥橩eefee听stopped 38 of 42 for the Wild. 听听

Shawnigan Lake听School听(1) vs听RINK Hockey Academy听Kelowna听(3) Female U18 Prep听听

Shawnigan Lake School really, really held their own on Friday against the RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna squad, who have been incredibly difficult to beat this season. The game marched towards the third period deadlocked 1-1, but with 74 seconds to go in the second, the most usual suspect popped up for RHAK. Kennedy Sisson鈥檚 20th goal of the season gave RHAK the breakthrough, with RHA Kelowna adding one more in the third for the 3-1 win. 听

BWC听Academy听(1) vs听Delta Hockey Academy听White听(4) U15听听

BWC Academy鈥檚 U15 squad have been one of the most consistent throughout their division this season, having won 23 of 27 prior to Friday. The control of their game against Delta Hockey Academy White was hard to debate. BWC outshot DHAW 49-19 in the game and 19-3 in the third period alone. That, however, wasn鈥檛 enough. DHAW鈥檚 Tyler Rydberg stopped 48 of 49 shots in the game, and Steven Xi (2G, 1A) scored twice to lead Delta to an admirable 4-1 win. 听

Delta Hockey听Academy听(4) vs听BWC听Academy听(3) U17 Prep听听

Friday鈥檚 game between Delta Hockey Academy and BWC Academy was ostensibly two separate games in one; the first dominated by Delta and the second by BWC. Delta dominated the first 50 minutes of the game and led 4-0, marching towards the end of the third. That鈥檚 when the game flipped, and BWC poured everything they had at Delta. They nearly made it all the way back, with two goals from Connor Liu leading BWC back into the game. Delta outshot BWC 29-15 in the first two periods, but in the third, BWC outshot their opponent 24-7. BWC got within one, making it 4-3, but Delta鈥檚 Jack Utsunomiya (36/39) shut the door at the end of the game to help BWC over the finish line for the win. 听

RINK Hockey Academy听Kelowna听(3) vs听Coeur d’Alene Hockey听Academy听(2) U15听听

 

RHA Kelowna鈥檚 start to their U15 game against CDA on Friday was crucial in propelling them towards a positive result. 26 seconds in, Sidney Mock (1G, 1A) scored for RHAK to听establish听an early lead. While CDA never stopped trying to fight back, RHAK never surrendered the lead. Harlan听Grimsdell听and Landen Gray scored to counteract CDA鈥檚 comeback efforts, eventually helping their RINK Kelowna team to a 3-2 win in Idaho.听听
