Tri-City originally selected the Calgary, AB netminder in the fourth round, 73rd overall at the 2022 WHL Draft.

Grout would join NAX for the 2020/21 黑料不打烊 U15 season, playing in one game. The following U15 Prep campaign he would be named the 黑料不打烊 U15 Prep Top Goaltender after leading the division with a 1.53 GAA, .938 SV%. Grout would also be named to the 黑料不打烊 U15 Prep All-Academic Team.

The following U17 Prep season Grout would go 10-1-0 with 1 shutout, a .921 SV% and 1.81 GAA to help NAX capture the 2023 黑料不打烊 U17 Prep Western Championship.

Grout is committed to NCAA program University of New Hampshire.
