Eastern U17: Mario Lapenna, Lower Canada College

The Montreal, QC forward led the U17 Prep Eastern Championships with 9 assists and 13 points as LCC captured their first ever ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Championship. Lapenna saved his best for last, tallying 1 goal and 3 assists as LCC beat Bishop’s 7-4 in the finals. Lapenna recorded 65 points during the regular season, giving him 107 over the past two ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ seasons.

Eastern U18: Kayden Robitaille, Bishop’s College School

A 2024 QMJHL Draft pick by the Charlottetown Islanders, Robitaille paced all skaters with 6 goals, while finishing second with 9 points in 5 playoff games. The Hummelstown, PA forward had 5 goals and 1 assist in elimination play, including scoring a game tying goal with four seconds left to record a hat-trick and send the game to overtime in the semi-finals. This season Robitaille had 24 points in 23 games, giving him 36 points in 42 career ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ games.

Female U18 Prep Championships: Hayley McDonald, RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna

The Ohio State University commit and Team Canada U18 forward led the Championships with 7 goals, including scoring the opening goal in the finals against OHA Edmonton. 5 of her 10 points would come in elimination games as she captained RHA Kelowna to their fifth straight ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Championship. The East St. Paul, MB forward had 35 points in 26 regular season games, giving her 86 points in her two ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ seasons.

Female U18 Prep Division II: Saysha Brace, Delta Hockey Academy Black

Brace and Delta Black lost their second round robin game of the Championships to Shawnigan 6-1, but Brace would bounce back with a 28 save performance in the finals as Delta Black beat Shawnigan 2-1 to capture the Female U18 Prep Division II Western Championship. The Chilliwack, BC netminder finished with a 2-1-0 record, 3.00 GAA and .908 SV%, including giving up just 3 goals on 52 shots in the semi-finals and finals. A SAIT Trojans commit, Brace went 5-9-0 with a 3.55 GAA, .905 SV% and 2 shutouts during the regular season.

U15 Championships: Easton Isfeld, Delta Hockey Academy Black

The 2012 born defenseman led all skaters with 8 assists and 13 points to lead Delta Black to a U15 Western Championship. On the season the Coquitlam, BC product had 17 goals and 30 assists, finishing second among defensemen with 47 points.

U15 Division II: Sawyer Elke, Pacific Coast Hockey Academy

A netminder from Campbell River, BC, Elke went 5-0-0 with a 2.21 GAA, .949 SV% and 1 shutout, playing all five playoff games for Pacific Coast. He would stop 188 of the 198 shots he faced, including 62 in the finals in a 3-2 win over Prairie. During the regular season Elke went 10-10-1 with 1 shutout, a 4.50 GAA, and .876 SV%.

U15 Prep Championships: Alexandre Montembeault, Calgary International Hockey Academy

The Calgary, AB netminder went 3-0-0 with a playoff best 1.33 GAA and .958 SV%. Montembeault stopped 91 of the 95 shots he faced, including 34 in a win over rivals Edge School in the Championship game. This season he would go 9-5-1 with 1 shutout, a 3.79 GAA, and a .891 SV%.

U15 Prep Division II: Brock Vodden, Pilot Mound Hockey Academy

Despite losing in the finals, Vodden led all skaters with 8 assists and 13 points, including a five point outing in the semi’s and a two point game in the finals. The Manitou, MB forward tallied 44 points in 30 regular season games, giving him 76 points in 65 career ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ games.

U17 Championships: Nathan Marques, Okanagan Hockey Academy

After finishing second in regular season scoring with 73 points in 34 games, Marques led all skaters with 7 assists and 11 points to help OHA capture back-to-back U17 Western Championships. The Penticton, BC forward recorded 5 points in elimination games, including 3 in the finals against Delta Hockey Academy.

U17 Division II: Logan Madrid, Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy

A forward from Coeur d’Alene, ID, Madrid finished second in playoff scoring with 3 goals and 4 assists in 4 games. During the regular season Madrid finished with 22 goals and 36 assists in 35 games, leading his team while finishing sixth among all skaters.

U17 Prep Championships: Dylan Mingo, RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna

The first goalie selected at the 2025 WHL Draft, Mingo stopped 105 of 110 shots while going 3-0-0. His 1.67 GAA and .955 SV% were both second among all goalies, with the Moose Jaw Warriors prospect making 33 saves in the finals to help RHA Kelowna go back-to-back. The Peachland, BC product went 11-3-0 with a 3.11 GAA and .922 SV% this season, his third season in the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ.

U17 Prep Division II: Darwin Ketch, Shawnigan Lake School

Ketch led all defensemen with 5 goals and 9 points, helping Shawnigan to a U17 Prep Division II Western Championship. The Duncan, BC product recorded 4 goals and an assist in the semi’s and finals, including the game winning goal in the championship game. This season he tallied 21 points in 30 U17 Prep games, to go along with his 56 points in 62 U15 Prep games the previous two seasons.

U18 Prep Championships: Carson Smith, RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna

A 2024 WHL Draft pick by the Moose Jaw Warriors, Smith tied for the scoring lead with 5 goals, while finishing tied for sixth with 7 points. The West Kelowna, BC forward scored an overtime winner in RHA Kelowna’s first playoff game before scoring just 40 seconds into the finals against NAX, helping his team win back-to-back West Championships. This season, his third in the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, Smith tallied 38 points in 24 regular season games.

U18 Prep Division II: Jack Poole, North Shore Warriors

The Calgary Hitmen prospect led all skaters with 5 assists while finishing second with 8 points. The Oakville, ON product added an assist in the finals as North Shore beat RHA Winnipeg 3-1. During the regular season Poole had 16 goals and 22 assists in 25 games.

Notre Dame took an early lead thanks to a power play goal by Matthew Boekelder 1:47 in. Lukas Lundgren doubled the lead midway through the period as he scored his second goal of the playoffs. Darwin Ketch (2G, 1A) would get Shawnigan Lake on the board 2:18 later as the defenseman scored his fourth goal of the West Championships.

Matthew Steele (1G, 2A) tied the game 12:29 into the second as he combined with Case Bartley (3A) and Matthew Morris (1G, 1A) for a pretty passing play that lead to Steele taping the puck into the empty net. However, Notre Dame would need just 22 seconds to respond as Reg Huebner beat Liam Chamberlain (24/28) for his third, giving them a 3-2 lead heading into the third.

Spencer Currie would tie the game briefly as he scored his third of the Championships 4:41 into the third. Notre Dame would once again have an answer as Ethan Schwartz (1G, 1A) put them back in front 2:16 later. Shawnigan would tie the game on another three way passing play between Morris, Steele and Bartley, as Morris finished it off with the back door tap-in.

This time Notre Dame would not restore their lead, and it was a Ketch point shot that beat Caden Smith (23/28) to put Shawnigan in front for the first time with 8:19 left to play.

Notre Dame would pull their goal with a little less than two minutes to play, but Egan Kenny would add an empty netter with 47 seconds left to secure the Shawnigan victory.

This was Shawnigan’s fifth ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Western Championship, having won U17 Prep Division I four times, most recently in 2018/19.

Delta Black would lose 6-1 in the round robin to Shawnigan Lake School (Shawnigan Lake, BC) but would bounce back with a 2-1 win Tuesday.

Kiernan Ledoux would open the scoring midway through the first as she buried a rebound off an Arlie Sangha shot, that hit the shoulder of Aidyn Carkner (21/23) and ended up behind her.

After falling behind Shawnigan would control the second, though the shots did end 12-11 in favour of Delta Black. Saysha Brace (28/29) would keep the game 1-0 in favour of Delta Black heading into the third when captain Kinleigh Brace scored a power play goal with 7:54 remaining to give her team a 2-0 lead.

Alyssa Worsley would counter with a power play goal of her own just 1:51 later as Shawnigan looked for an equalizer. They would get their chances but ultimately were unable to find the tying goal, sending Delta Black into a joyous celebration.

The Courtenay, BC forward tallied one goal and three assists in three games with Northeastern University. On the season Jackson has 7 goals and 10 assists in 19 games, giving her 29 points in 53 career NCAA games.

Prior to her time in the NCAA, Jackson spent two seasons in the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ with Shawnigan, recording seasons of 58 and 61 points. She has won a gold and bronze medal with Team Canada at the U18 level.

The 45 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ student-athletes represent 56% of all players on the rosters of the 4 Western Provinces.  All 20 players on Team BC have ties to the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ with 18 current and 2 former student-athletes on the roster. Team Alberta consists of 8 current and 3 former, Team Manitoba has 8 current and 2 former, and Team Saskatchewan has 4 current ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ student-athletes.

South Alberta Hockey Academy netminder Cash Christie is the lone active ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ student-athlete to make Team Canada U17.

The 2025 U17 World Challenge kicks off on Nov. 2, with Canada Red taking on Finland at 3:30 p.m. AT and Canada White facing off against Sweden at 7:30 p.m. AT. Teams will play two preliminary-round games before the medal round, which concludes on Nov. 8 with the medal games. The event will also feature in Truro, Amherst and Wolfville on Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. AT.

The 2024 U17 World Challenge saw 12 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ alumni compete for Team Canada Red and White.

A defensemen from St. Albert, AB, Greschuk spent the 2023/24 U15 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ season with the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX). In 21 games he tallied 3 goals and 11 assists for 14 points. He would add four point in five playoff games as NAX captured their second straight ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ U15 Western Championship.

The Royals selected Greschuk in the first round, 19th overall at the 2025 WHL Draft.

McKamey joined Shawnigan Lake School as a double-underage player for the 2021/22 U15 Prep season. That year he would record 33 points in 28 games. The following U15 Prep season he would lead his team and finish eighth in the division with 58 points in 24 games.

The Cowichan Valley, BC forward would graduate to the U18 Prep division as an underage player the following season. Despite being the second youngest player in the division (behind Landon DuPont/Edge School), McKamey would finish third on his team with 48 points, including tying for the team lead with 23 goals in 28 games.

At the conclusion of the season, the Royals would select McKamey in the second round, 35th overall at the 2024 WHL Draft.

For the second straight draft a St. George’s School (Vancouver, BC) defenseman was selected second overall as Holden Wouters was taken by the Edmonton Oil Kings.

STAR Hockey Academy (Kent, WA) captain Levi Ellingsen became the second ever ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ student-athlete selected first overall at the U.S. Priority Draft, joining RHA Kelowna (Kelowna, BC) forward Brody Gillespie, who was selected by the Spokane Chiefs in 2023.

Overall, 11 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ student-athletes were selected in the first round while 84 players were selected in total at the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft. Of those 84, 48 were taken in the first 4 rounds/92 picks. Overall, 37% of the WHL Prospects Draft came from the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, the third highest percentage total in league history, behind 2021 (45%), 2022 (40%) and tied with 2024 (37%). 

The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ three round total of 39 players selected is the second most in league history, trailing 2021 when 40 players were selected in the first three rounds, including a record 16 in round one.

All 16 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ U15 Prep teams saw at least one student-athlete selected at this years draft.

Of the 200 Canadians selected in the WHL Prospects Draft, 80 (40%) were from the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. The remaining 27 players selected were from the U.S.A. or Europe, with 4 of those having played in the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ including Luke Warrener and Vladislav Ibragimov, who both played in the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ U18 Prep division as 2009 born players.

With 16 players selected, the Northern Alberta Xtreme tied the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ program single draft record held by Edge School, who had 16 in 2024.
