The 11 student-athletes selected is second most in 黑料不打烊 history, behind the 2021 season when 18 heard their names called. 73 current or former 黑料不打烊 student-athletes have now been selected at the QMJHL Draft since 2018.

This marks the second straight QMJHL Draft that double digit 黑料不打烊 student-athletes were selected. 10 of the 11 student-athletes played in the 黑料不打烊 Eastern Division, with 1 playing in the West.

Three 黑料不打烊 goalies were selected at this years QMJHL Draft, tying the previous seven year total.

Stanstead College (4), Bishop’s College School (2), Bourget College (1), CIH Academy (1), Edge School (1), Ontario Hockey Academy and Rothesay Netherwood School (1) all had a student-athlete selected this year. The seven 黑料不打烊 teams to have at least one student-athlete selected is a single draft 黑料不打烊 record.

During the 2024/25 season the 黑料不打烊 introduced the Student-Athlete of the Month Award for the four different 黑料不打烊 divisions/age brackets: Eastern, West Female, West U18 Male (U18 Prep, U17 Prep, U17) and West U15 Male (U15 Prep and U15) .

This award is aimed at recognizing the student-athletes within the 黑料不打烊 and acknowledges their hard work, dedication, commitment, leadership, academics and community impact.

We would like to congratulate these four student-athletes, who were all nominated by their programs, for their hard work in the month of April.

East Division – Jayden Pierre, CIH Academy

“Jayden Pierre is a standout student-athlete who consistently demonstrates excellence through his academic commitment and character. He maintains an impressive academic profile, highlighted by a 92% in English and an 87% in Mathematics, reflecting his strong work ethic and ability to handle a rigorous curriculum alongside his athletic duties.

Beyond the classroom, Jayden is a dedicated member of his community, regularly volunteering his time to unload heavy crates of produce for a weekly affordable food market. In the dressing room, he has emerged as a natural leader; he earns the respect of his teammates by leading by example and maintaining a consistently respectful attitude toward coaches and peers alike.”

West Female Division – Morgan Ghag, Okanagan Hockey Academy

“Morgan exemplifies what it means to be a dedicated student-athlete through her leadership, character, academic commitment, and positive influence on those around her. She consistently represents OHA with maturity, professionalism, and a team-first attitude both in the classroom and within our program.

Morgan has consistently demonstrated the qualities of an outstanding student-athlete both inside and outside the classroom. Her quiet leadership never goes unnoticed, as she consistently leads by example through her maturity, work ethic, and positive attitude. Morgan has had a tremendous impact on the culture of our team by always giving her best effort, never cutting corners, and treating everyone she encounters with kindness and respect.

Academically, Morgan is equally impressive. She works extremely hard in school and maintains exceptional grades while balancing the demands of being a high-level student-athlete. Her dedication, accountability, and commitment to excellence make her a role model for her peers both in the classroom and within our program. Morgan鈥檚 character, leadership, and consistent commitment to doing things the right way make her highly deserving of recognition as the 黑料不打烊 Female Student of the Month for April.”

West Male U15 Division – Grayson Sears, Delta Hockey Academy

“Grayson听Sears on our DHA U15 White team was selected out of the North Delta Secondary Grade 8 class to speak at Delta Districts for French public speaking. He represented NDSS at the provincial Concours d鈥檃rt oratoire which was held at Simon Fraser University, on May 2nd.

West Male U18 Division – Ryder Brastad, Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy

“Ryder Brastad is the Captain of our u17 Prep team and as a two year player in the 黑料不打烊 he continues to excel on and off the ice. He has a total High School GPA of 3.71. His first semester GPA was 3.83 and his current second semester GPA is 4.0. He has A鈥檚 in English, Spanish, Financial Literacy, Algebra 2, US History and Viticulture. He also has not missed a workout or practice this spring and shows up with a good attitude everyday. We are proud of the hard work Ryder has put in.”

This award is aimed at recognizing the incredible coaches within the 黑料不打烊 and acknowledges their hard work, dedication, commitment, leadership and impact on the game both on and off the ice.

East Division: Jason Zhang, CIH Academy

“Jason is an integral part of our staff and keeps our student-athletes healthy and on the ice. Jason is on campus every day to assess injuries and provide treatment as needed to not only our U17 and U18 Prep teams, but to all our teams in our program, overseeing approximately 95 student-athletes. Jason is also at every 黑料不打烊 home and road game as well as our out of town tournaments.”

Female Division: Chelsea Dinnin, Balmoral Hall School

“Chelsea has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and commitment to our athletes. Her positive energy, strong work ethic, and ability to connect with players have made a meaningful impact on both individual development and overall team performance. She goes above and beyond in her role as assistant coach, always stepping up to support the team and contribute to our program鈥檚 success.

I strongly believe she is deserving of this recognition and appreciate your consideration of her nomination. She is also a big advocate for the Female game with her @DreamHockey account on Instagram.”

Male Division: Jessie Leung, Okanagan Hockey Academy

“It is with great enthusiasm that we nominate Jessie Leung for the 黑料不打烊 Western U15 Coach of the Month award. In his first year as Head Coach of the U15 team, Jessie continues to bring the skills and experience he developed during his time as Head Coach of our U17 Prep team. From day one, he has made an immediate and meaningful impact on his players both on and off the ice.

One of Jessie’s greatest strengths is his genuine commitment to building meaningful relationships with his players. He invests the time to understand each athlete individually, fostering a sense of trust and camaraderie within the group that translates directly into a cohesive, connected team environment.

Jessie’s approach to coaching is defined by his attention to detail and organizational excellence. He comes prepared, runs purposeful practices, and holds his players to clear team standards and habits. His ability to establish a culture of accountability and consistency has elevated the day-to-day performance and professionalism of his entire program.

Communication is another area where Jessie truly stands out. Whether he is delivering instruction on the ice, providing feedback to players, or engaging with parents and staff, Jessie is clear, thoughtful, and respectful in everything he does. His players always know where they stand and what is expected of them.

Perhaps most telling of his character is the way Jessie shows up for those around him. He is a true team player 鈥� always willing to step in and support fellow coaches and staff whenever and wherever he is needed, without hesitation.”

18 of those 21 黑料不打烊 alumni come from the Western Hockey League (WHL) Champions, the Medicine Hat Tigers. 75% (18/24) of the Tigers playoff roster played in the 黑料不打烊. The three remaining 黑料不打烊 alumni played for the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), and the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

The 21 黑料不打烊 alumni will now compete at the Memorial Cup in Rimouski, QC starting May 22 and going until June 1. The Rimouski Oc茅anic are the fourth and final team in the tournament, entering as the hosts, having lost to Moncton in the QMJHL finals.

Friday, November 22, 2024 – 8:00am PST: Okanagan Hockey Training Centre

St. George’s School (12-6-1) vs OHA Edmonton (9-4-0) U17 Prep

This will be the second time these two teams have met this season after OHA Edmonton (Edmonton, AB) earned a 6-2 win over St. George’s School (Vancouver, BC) on September 27 at the U17 Prep showcase in Abbotsford, BC. Despite each having high win rates, St. George’s and OHA Edmonton come into the match-up as the 13th and 7th ranked teams in the division.

St. George’s goalie Les Toth (7-4-1) currently leads the division with an impressive .942 SV%. and 2 shutouts. Toth’s 2.41 GAA has him ranked fifth among all goalies. Offensively, St. George’s is paced by a trio of forwards who all find themselves in the top eight in terms of point production on the season. Jason Gao (15-13-28) leads the team in goals and points while Byron Chin (12-15-27) and Aaron Castro (13-13-26) complete the trio. Defenseman Josh Gravistin (2-20-22) leads all U17 Prep d-men with 20 assists and 22 points on the season. Defender Daniel Taylor (5-8-13) is the only other St. George’s skater in double digit points this season.

A third round pick by the Saskatoon Blades at the 2024 WHL Draft, Jaggar John (10-19-29) sits second in the division with a team high 29 points. Logan Miller (11-12-23), Portland Winterhawks prospect Cash Brebant (9-14-23) and Prince George Cougars prospect Keenan Fox (11-10-21) all have 20-plus points this season, with Jevyn Singh Gill (6-12-18) closing in on the mark. A 2024 WHL Draft fifth round pick by the Medicine Hat Tigers, Zackary Nieckar (2-12-14) leads all OHA Edmonton defensemen with 12 assists and 14 points. Aidan Prosser (6-4-0) has done the majority of work in net this season for his squad, with him and Saskatoon Blades prospect Dysen Loewen (2-0-0) combining for a 3.70 GAA, .887 SV% and 1 shutout.

Saturday, November 23, 2024 – 1:30pm EST: Westmount Arena

Selwyn House School (1-1-0) vs CIH Academy (6-5-0) East U17

This will be the first time in history the two teams face-off in 黑料不打烊 league play, with eighth ranked CIH Academy (Rockland, ON) playing the role of home team, despite the game taking place in sixth ranked Selwyn House School’s (Westmount, QC) home barn.

Selwyn House comes into this game having just made their 黑料不打烊 debut on November 16 in a 5-2 loss to Kuper Academy. They earned their first 黑料不打烊 regular season win on November 21 with a shutout victory of Ulysse Academie (Saint-Roch-de-l鈥橝chigan, QC). Luca Ottoni (1-1-0) made 21 saves to earn the shutout while Lynden Larsen (2-2-4) paced the offence with three points. Larsen, a fourth round pick by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at the 2024 QMJHL Draft, leads the team in assists and points this season. With two goals in their victory Thursday, Isaac Huberman (2-0-2) has the team high for goals. Tommy Nicolopolous (1-0-1), another 2024 QMJHL Draft selection by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, is the lone Selwyn House defenseman to record a point this season. Ottoni has played both Selwyn House games this season and sits with a .911 SV% and 2.50 GAA.

CIH Academy has been led in net by Sebastien Bourgeau (5-1-0). Bourgeau holds a .938 SV%, 2.39 GAA and 1 shutout this season. Offensively the man to watch for CIH Academy is Luca Chiarizia (3-7-10) who has a team best 3 goals, 7 assists and 10 points. Its a steep drop off to the next closest skater as Liam Bosum (3-1-4) and Noah Panetta (2-2-4) are tied with four points each. Drake Bosum (1-2-3) leads the CIH Academy defensive core with three points in eight games this season.

Sunday, November 24, 2024 – 6:00pm PST: Okanagan Hockey Training Centre

Delta Hockey Academy (11-5-0) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (7-2-1) U17 Prep

Delta (Delta, BC) and CIHA (Calgary, AB) have met once previously this season, with CIHA earning a 3-1 win on September 29 at the U17 Prep showcase in Abbotsford, BC. Delta currently sits as the fifth ranked team in the division, while CIHA, the defending champions, sit fourth.

Netminder Matthew Wong (9-2-0) leads all U17 Prep goaltenders with nine wins, while his 2.26 GAA is good enough for second in the division. A trio of 2024 WHL Draft picks in Jack Morgan (12-11-23), Kishan Saggu (12-11-23) and Treyce Pavlic (1-20-21), who’s 20 assists are tied for the U17 Prep division lead, pace the Delta offence. Wyatt Callander (6-14-20), Winterhawks 2024 fourth rounder Caden Leibel (6-12-18) and Luke Anderson (7-10-17) round out a potent top-six forward unit for Delta. Selected four picks apart in the fourth round of the 2024 WHL Draft, Dylan Hurren (2-11-13) and Bryson Roberts (2-7-9) lead a Delta d-core that also includes Cortland LeMieux (4-5-9).

Only three CIHA skaters have hit double digit points so far this season with Mason Moran (4-13-17) and his team high 13 assists and 17 points leading the way. Aedan McCarry (7-8-15) leads the team with seven goals while Red Deer Rebels 2024 WHL Draft pick Declan Cardiff (3-8-11) is the other CIHA skater playing at over a point per game pace. The defensive core is lead by Xander Ramsay (3-4-7) and Spokane Chiefs prospect Jacob Balaberda (1-6-7), who are tied with seven points each. In net, Kamloops Blazers prospect Braxton Gibson (3-2-1) and Ethan Mann (4-0-0) have split the work between the pipes. The duo has posted a 3.08 GAA, and .893 SV% this season.

In his first season in the 黑料不打烊 the South Surrey, BC forward had a division best 9 goals and 13 points in 6 U15 games during the month of September.

During the month of September Hamilton led all skaters with 11 assists and 19 points in 8 games. The Kelowna, BC forward has chipped in 8 goals in his 8 games, while recording at least a point in every game this season.

U18 Prep: River Arnason, RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg

Arnason leads all skaters with 5 goals while his 10 points are tied for the division lead. The Winnipeg, MB forward has recorded 84 points in 52 games the last two seasons, split between the U17 Prep and U15 Prep divisions.

Female U18 Prep: Maddie Kaiser, Balmoral Hall School

In her first season with Balmoral Kaiser has a division best 8 assists and 13 points in 3 games this season. The Winnipeg, MB forward spent the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons with St. Mary’s academy recording 38 points in 55 games.

Eastern U17: Sebastien Bourgeau, CIH Academy

The Orleans, ON netminder has played two games with CIH Academy this season going 2-0-0 with 1 shutout. His 2 wins, 1 shutout. 0.50GAA and .986SV% are all a division best.

Eastern U18: Jack Sangster, King’s-Edgehill School

Sangster leads the 黑料不打烊 Eastern U18 division with 7 goals and 9 points in 5 games this season. This is the Bedford, NS forwards first season in the 黑料不打烊.

Taylor Bierlmeier, Marcus Dashevsky, Solomon Kim, and Hayley Lee are this year鈥檚 recipients of the 黑料不打烊 Scholarship.

The 黑料不打烊 would like to recognize student-athletes who develop their life skills while concentrating on their hockey development. The scholarships are open to all current and former male or female student athletes of the 黑料不打烊 that are currently in their graduating year of high school or up to 20 years old.

A selection committee from the 黑料不打烊 review鈥檚 all applications and selects recipients based on four categories: Education, Citizenship and Character, Hockey, and References.

Taylor Bierlmeier:

听A forward from Whitehorse, YT, Bierlmeier joined the 黑料不打烊 in 2020/21. In four seasons with the Okanagan Hockey Academy Female U17 and U18 Prep teams, Bierlmeier tallied 31 points in 93 games.

鈥淭here are endless amazing student-athletes in this league, so I am honoured to be one of the four chosen to receive this scholarship. In the past four years, the league has shaped me to become the person I am today; I could not have portrayed half of the Academic Excellence, Character, Citizenship and Sportsmanship qualities I did if it was not for this organization. I am extremely grateful for the development it provided me with, and the recognition associated with this award. I greatly appreciated all of the support from the 黑料不打烊 in the past, as well as in the future as I pursue my post-secondary aspirations,鈥� said Bierlmeier.

In 2024/25 Bierlmeier will play for the Arizona State University (ASU) women鈥檚 hockey team while studying Kinesiology. She plans on playing there her entire undergraduate degree, then continuing her education in Canada. Bierlmeier intends on becoming a Sports Medicine Physician to help athletes reach their greatest potential.

She chose to play at ASU because of their strong hockey team, prime location, and having her desired program. 鈥淚 cannot complain about continuing my education, while playing hockey, and living in a city with palm trees,鈥� added Bierlmeier. 鈥淚 am intrigued to learn about optimizing sports performance; therefore, I chose Kinesiology as my undergraduate. Then, to stay involved in the sports atmosphere and have the ability to transfer my knowledge to other athletes, I will become a Sports Medicine Physician.鈥�

鈥淧laying in the 黑料不打烊 taught me to balance hockey and school; I learnt how to maintain my grades regardless of my absences. I learnt to communicate with teachers, develop a self determination to complete all assignments to the best of my abilities, and found time to make up any tests I missed. The league also taught me to shoot for perfection. It has a competitive nature that pushed me to my greatest potential. Not only did it advance my athletic, but it taught me to be the best person possible, and it set me up for successful in the future,鈥� added Bierlmeier.

Marcus Dashevsky:

听Dashevsky spent five years in the 黑料不打烊 for St. George鈥檚 School, joining the program in 2017/18 with their U15 team, working his way through the 黑料不打烊 development path until graduating from the program in 2021/22 after a season at the U18 Prep level. In 132 黑料不打烊 games the Richmond, BC forward tallied 111 points. He spent last season in the GOJHL with the St. Mary鈥檚 Lincolns, tallying 6 points in 13 games.

鈥淲inning this scholarship is a full-circle moment for me. Some of the best times of my life so far were spent wearing the St. Georges crest and playing in the 黑料不打烊,鈥� said Dashevsky. 鈥淚 am extremely grateful to all of my coaches, teachers and the St Georges athletics department for making my time at Saints second to none. I am honoured and humbled to have been chosen as a winner of this award by the selection committee and am grateful to the 黑料不打烊 for enabling me to pursue my dreams, both on and off the ice.鈥�

Dashevsky will return to Huron University in 2024/25 after completing the first year of the Political Science program, with a 3.9 GPA, starting in the fall of 2023.

Huron University offers a unique approach to education, as they prioritize an individualized education experience which includes smaller class sizes, easier access to help from professors and a first-class career services team. Taking this into consideration made the decision to choose Huron very easy as he felt that these unique services would allow him to get the most out of his education and prepare him for his future ahead. 鈥淒uring my first year at Huron, I was able to build strong relationships with my peers and professors, something which I credit to the strong sense of community which Huron strives to promote,鈥� added Dashevsky.

Dashevsky chose the social science program at Huron because it matches his interests. The program focuses on teaching critical thinking and research, which helps him explore important topics like economic policies and political systems. The program also offers practical experiences through internships and community projects, letting him apply what he learned in real-world settings. Huron’s social sciences program supports his goal of making a positive impact on society and opens up many career opportunities for him.

鈥淲hile I’m still undecided about my exact career path, I have a strong interest in business and believe that a career in business consulting would be incredibly rewarding. I thrive on the competitive aspects of the job and enjoy working in a team environment, both of which I attribute to my experience playing hockey with the St. George’s Hockey program in the 黑料不打烊,鈥� added Dashevsky. 鈥淚n addition to my career aspirations, I am passionate about supporting philanthropic causes, particularly those that help children participate in sports. I have already started this journey by joining the Right to Play club at Western, and I hope to make even more significant contributions in the future.鈥�

鈥淧laying in the 黑料不打烊 taught me invaluable lessons in balancing hockey and school. The rigorous schedule required me to manage my time effectively, ensuring I could excel both on the ice and in the classroom. This experience instilled in me a disciplined approach to prioritizing tasks and maintaining focus, which has been crucial in my academic and personal development, as well as in maintaining academic success in my post-secondary studies,鈥� added Dashevsky. 鈥淭he 黑料不打烊 fostered a strong work ethic in me, emphasizing the importance of determination and resilience. The competitive nature of the league in combination with coaching I received at St Georges taught me to push through challenges and always strive for excellence. These lessons in perseverance and dedication have equipped me with essential skills and habits that continue to benefit me in all aspects of life.鈥�

Solomon Kim:

The Seoul, South Korea defenseman joined CIH Academy in 2021/22 playing three seasons in the 黑料不打烊 Eastern Division. In 77 career games Kim tallied 18 points.

Kim was named to the 黑料不打烊 Eastern U17 Prep All-Academic Team in 2021/22 and 2022/23, while being named to the 黑料不打烊 Eastern U18 Prep All-Academic Team this past season. All three seasons he was also named the 黑料不打烊 Top Scholastic Athlete of the Year for his respective division.

After being accepted into multiple universities, Kim has yet to make a decision on where he will be going to school next year. He is currently leaning towards attending the University of Hong Kong to study Data Science and Engineering. The University of Hong Kong because is ranked as the 17th best university in the world while he chose this program because data science is a flexible major that is applicable in various industries while being closely tied with artificial intelligence, something that is currently on the rise with ChatGPT.

鈥淥ne of the invaluable lessons I learned during my time in the 黑料不打烊 is how to win against yourself every day. Achieving academic excellence and pursuing a professional hockey career at the same time requires an unbelievable amount of self-control and discipline,鈥� added Kim. 鈥淵ou need to be able to minimize impulsive behavior and focus on sticking to a routine. To do that, you need to win against your worst villain; you.鈥�

Hayley Lee:

Lee joined Delta Hockey Academy for the 2023/24 Female U18 Prep season. The Surrey, BC forward recorded 30 points in 28 games this season with Delta Green.

鈥淚 am grateful and honoured to be awarded this scholarship. Being honoured by this community means they value the things that I have been able to do while in playing and officiating in this league; respect, pursuit of excellence, and volunteering. This award is truly a gift that will be used toward my schooling but more importantly a symbol of recognizing the accomplishments that I have worked towards,鈥� said Lee.

Lee will join Liberty University in 2024/25 playing for their women鈥檚 hockey team while entering their nursing program. Lee wants to pursue nursing in aspirations to be like her mom who works in the pediatric emergency department. 鈥淢y mom is a hero in my eyes always helping those in need and I want to be just like her. Liberty has an amazing institution for nursing and I cannot wait until the fall to get started in their program.鈥�

Her future aspirations are to give back to the game that has given her so much with all of the successes and failures, memories and friendships that she has had. 鈥淚鈥檓 so grateful that women are now given the opportunity to play in the PWHL to help girls dream to play in our version of the NHL and now coaching in the NHL. I will continue to be a part of the game within the 黑料不打烊 and BC Hockey as an official and as a coach for young athletes. Eventually, I hope to be able to coach elite female levels of hockey, giving back to the game and providing mentorship and leadership to females in hockey. I hope to continue to pursue my own growth and pathway for hockey as well as start a career in nursing working with children.鈥�

鈥淭he 黑料不打烊 has taught me the art of multitasking, which is a very important life skill. It really helped me better my time management while prioritizing work and sport as a balance. In this league, I felt like I was a part of something bigger. I learned that being on a team is just a small part of the game, but success comes when you are a good teammate. To be a great teammate you need to have good collaborative/communicative skills, drive to help yourself and others be successful, find ways to lift others up. All of these qualities create the best environment for an elite performance from a team. These skills not only for on the ice but skills you can use in your life outside of hockey,鈥� added Lee.

鈥淵ou also learn to be accountable for your effort. Whatever you put into school work or practice, it will affect the outcome of your performance whether it鈥檚 test or game time. Hard work is what makes you and your team successful. I was always taught, whatever effort you put into your practice/studying, that it will translate to your performance on the ice or in your grades. I鈥檓 grateful to have been a part of this league because I believe I have learnt skills that will make me more successful at university and in my future career as a nurse. Remi Gendron: Gendron joined CIH Academy for the 2023/24 Eastern U18 Prep season. In 14 games the Rockland, ON forward tallied 2 goals and 5 assists.

Matis Bureau-Morel: A netminder from Gatineau, QC, Bureau-Morel went 3-6-0 with a .901SV%, and 4.51 GAA in 9 games this season with the CIH Academy Eastern U18 Prep team.

Nathan Landriault: The Gatineau, QC forward joined CIH Academy for the 2023/24 Eastern U18 Prep season. In 12 games he would record 2 goals and 5 assists.
