East Division: Jason Zhang, CIH Academy

“Jason is an integral part of our staff and keeps our student-athletes healthy and on the ice. Jason is on campus every day to assess injuries and provide treatment as needed to not only our U17 and U18 Prep teams, but to all our teams in our program, overseeing approximately 95 student-athletes. Jason is also at every ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ home and road game as well as our out of town tournaments.”

Female Division: Chelsea Dinnin, Balmoral Hall School

“Chelsea has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and commitment to our athletes. Her positive energy, strong work ethic, and ability to connect with players have made a meaningful impact on both individual development and overall team performance. She goes above and beyond in her role as assistant coach, always stepping up to support the team and contribute to our program’s success.

I strongly believe she is deserving of this recognition and appreciate your consideration of her nomination. She is also a big advocate for the Female game with her @DreamHockey account on Instagram.”

Male Division: Jessie Leung, Okanagan Hockey Academy

“It is with great enthusiasm that we nominate Jessie Leung for the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Western U15 Coach of the Month award. In his first year as Head Coach of the U15 team, Jessie continues to bring the skills and experience he developed during his time as Head Coach of our U17 Prep team. From day one, he has made an immediate and meaningful impact on his players both on and off the ice.

One of Jessie’s greatest strengths is his genuine commitment to building meaningful relationships with his players. He invests the time to understand each athlete individually, fostering a sense of trust and camaraderie within the group that translates directly into a cohesive, connected team environment.

Jessie’s approach to coaching is defined by his attention to detail and organizational excellence. He comes prepared, runs purposeful practices, and holds his players to clear team standards and habits. His ability to establish a culture of accountability and consistency has elevated the day-to-day performance and professionalism of his entire program.

Communication is another area where Jessie truly stands out. Whether he is delivering instruction on the ice, providing feedback to players, or engaging with parents and staff, Jessie is clear, thoughtful, and respectful in everything he does. His players always know where they stand and what is expected of them.

Perhaps most telling of his character is the way Jessie shows up for those around him. He is a true team player — always willing to step in and support fellow coaches and staff whenever and wherever he is needed, without hesitation.”

Eastern U17: Liam Armit, Stanstead College

The Gatineau, QC forward led his team with four goals and seven points in five games as Stanstead won the 2025 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Eastern U17 Championships. During the regular season Armit, a top prospect for the 2025 QMJHL Draft, recorded 29 points in 16 games.

Eastern U18: William Sasseville, Bourget College

Sasseville got off to a slow start at the 2025 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Eastern Championships, going pointless in the round robin. But he would come alive when it meant the most, scoring twice in the quarter-finals, once in the semi’s and once again in the finals. His lone assist of the playoffs would be a crucial one, as he set-up Albert Genest on a two-on-one for the overtime game winner, giving Bourget their second ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Eastern U18 Championship in three seasons. During the regular season the Prevost, QC forward tallied 23 points in 24 games.

Female U18 Prep Prep Division I: Alida Korte, RHA Kelowna

Korte finished second among all skaters with 6 goals and 11 points in 5 playoff games. She would cap-off her playoffs by scoring a highlight reel goal in the finals as RHA Kelowna captured their fourth straight ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Female U18 Prep Western Championship. The Saskatoon, SK forward finished second among all skaters with 63 points in 29 games during the regular season.

Female U18 Prep Division II: Makenna Williment, Balmoral Hall School

The Balmoral captain paced the Female U18 Prep Division II Western Championships with 6 goals and 10 points in just 4 games to lead her team to a ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Championship in their first season in the league. In a 3-2 win over Delta Hockey Academy Black, she would score the opening goal while assisting on the game winner. During the regular season the Syracuse University commit had 39 points in 30 games.

U15 Division I: Brody Antignani, Edge School

After leading the U15 division with 50 goals, 49 assists and 99 points during the regular season the Calgary, AB forward paced the 2025 Western Championships with 10 goals, 7 assists and 17 points. His 17 points were 7 more than the next closest skater as Edge captured the 2025 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ U15 Division I Western Championship.

U15 Division II: Jack Arseniuk, RHA Winnipeg

The Winnipeg, MB product led all U15 Division II defensemen with three goals and five points in five games to help his team capture the 2025 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ U15 Division II Western Championship. Arseniuk saved his best for last, scoring once and adding an assist on the game winner in the finals. During the regular season he tallied 6 goals and 13 assists in 36 games.

U15 Prep Division I: Ryker Doka, Delta Hockey Academy

The Regina, SK defensemen finished with one goal and five assists, including scoring 29 seconds into the finals, as Delta captured the 2025 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ U15 Prep Division I Western Championship. Doka recorded 14 goals and 20 assists in just 21 regular season games for Delta.

U15 Prep Division II: Gage Mark, Okanagan Hockey Academy

OHA captured the 2025 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ U15 Prep Division II Western Championship with Mark pacing the way with a playoff best 6 goals and 11 points in 4 games. The Kelowna, BC forward had a goal and two assists in the finals, setting up the game winner late in the third period. Mark had 21 goals and 14 assists in 36 regular season games with OHA.

U17 Division I: Tyson Kuiack, Okanagan Hockey Academy

Kuiack played four of the five games for OHA during the Championships, going 4-0-0 with a 1.25 GAA, and .946 SV%. His GAA ranked second among netminders while his SV% was third. In a 3-2 win over RHA Kelowna in the finals the Kelowna, BC netminder stopped 28 of 30 shots as OHA captured the 2025 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ U17 Division I Western Championship. During the regular season he went 14-3-2 with a 2.46 GAA, .901 SV% and 2 shutouts.

U17 Division II: Lynden Mercier, Delta Hockey Academy

A netminder from Victoria, BC, Mercier went 3-0-0 with a 1.99 GAA and .934 SV% during the Championships. He would stop 29 of 31 shots as Delta beat BWC Academy 3-2 in overtime to win the 2025 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ U17 Division II Western Championships. Mercier went 8-7-2 with a 3.22 GAA, .903 SV% and 1shutout during the regular season.

U17 Prep Division I: Drake Mooney, Prairie Hockey Academy

Prairie came into the Championships as the 12th and final seed but made it to the finals, thanks in large part to the play of Mooney. The Blackfalds, AB netminder went 3-1-0 with a 2.16 GAA and playoff best .948 SV%. A fourth round pick by the Regina Pats at the 2024 WHL Draft, Mooney stopped 45 shots through 60 minutes of regulation and 10 minutes of overtime, before stopping both OHA Edmonton shooters in the shootout to send his team to the finals. Mooney would stop 46 of 49 in the finals, but Prairie ultimately fell 4-1. Mooney went 6-10-12 with a 3.56 GAA, .897 SV% and 1 shutout during the regular season.

U17 Prep Division II: Collin Friedrich, Pilot Mound Hockey Academy

Friedrich went pointless in his first game of the Championships before producing six goals and three assists in his final four games to finish third in playoff scoring with nine points. In the semi-finals the Tampa Bay, FL forward would have a flurry of chances in overtime, before finally burying the game winner with just two seconds left. In the finals Pilot Mound would dismantle the North Shore Warriors 7-0, with Friedrich tallying a game high three points to lead his team to a 2025 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ U17 Prep Division II Western Championship. During the regular season he recorded 23 goals and 20 assists in 36 games.

U18 Prep: Benjamin Bowtell, RHA Kelowna

The Saskatoon Blades prospect led the playoffs with 7 goals and 12 points as 11th seed RHA Kelowna took home the 2025 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ U18 Prep Western Championship. The Lake Country, BC forward recorded at least a point in all five playoff games, recording three points on three separate occasions including in the semi-finals and finals. Bowtell had 19 goals and 22 assists in 35 regular season games.

U18 Prep Division II: Aleksandr Skuratov, Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy

Skuratov tied for the playoff lead with 4 goals, while his 12 points trailed only teammate Sokratis Markarian, who had 13. The Czechia forward recorded at least a point in all five playoff games, recording three points on three separate occasions including the finals where he assisted on all three CDA goals in a 3-1 win over Pilot Mound. During the regular season Skuratov had 19 goals and 24 assists in 36 games.

Balmoral (Winnipeg, MB) came into the Division II Championships as the number one seed and that’s how they would finish in the round robin after going 2-0-0 and earning a bye straight to the semi-finals. They would defeat the Northern Alberta Xtreme (Devon, AB) 5-1 to earn a spot in the finals.

After coming into the Division II Championships as the five seed, Delta Hockey Academy Black (Delta, BC) went 1-0-1 in the round robin to finish third in pool play. They would beat Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (Pilot Mound, MB) 1-0 in overtime in the quarter-finals before besting Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (Penticton, BC) 4-3 in OT in the semi’s.

The Championship game would start with Balmoral captain Makenna Williment (1G, 1A) opening the scoring 8:13 in with her sixth of the playoffs. Balmoral would double their lead 34 seconds later as Maddie Kaiser (1G, 2A) sprung Madeline McKay (1G, 1A) for a breakaway and McKay made no mistake, beating Nicole Flescher (36/39) five-hole. Maddie Kaiser would extend the lead early in the second period as Balmoral had total control heading into the final frame.

It looked as though Balmoral would coast to victory until Mira Morgan got Delta Black on the board with 2:15 remaining. Abigail Jung would go bar down on Lauren Cherkas (29/31) 1:12 later as the three goal cushion quickly evaporated. Ultimately, Delta Black was unable to generate any zone time, let alone a tying goal, in the final minute as Balmoral held on for the 3-2 win.

On January 11, 2025 the Balmoral Female U18 Prep hockey team brought out their international boarding students, who come from all across the world, to get them geared up in hockey equipment and teach them the basics of the game. The event saw roughly 20 participants from China, Japan, Mexico and Ukraine, ranging from grade 6-12 students.

“This is an especially fun event for our 6 boarding hockey players who live in dorms with their international boarding friends. The boarding students get paired with a hockey player who brings them into our team dressing room and gets them ready in the player’s stall. We then take the girls on the ice and begin practice. They work on skating, stopping, turning, falling down, puck handling, shooting and of course celly’s!” said Balmoral Director og Hockey Sarah Zacharias. “One of our players from Japan said after the skate “Coach Zach, since we’re now certified Hockey Players, if you guys are ever short players we can come out and play!”. It’s always fun sharing one of Canada’s biggest passions with students from all over the world.”

Balmoral Hall School (12-8-1) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (3-14-2) Female U18 Prep

This will be the second meeting this season between Balmoral Hall School (Winnipeg, MB) and Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (Pilot Mound, MB). Eighth ranked Balmoral won the first matchup on November 29, 2024 by a score of 6-3.

Balmoral is led by a duo of electric forwards who rank first and second in league scoring. 2009 born freshman Madeline McKay (25-25-5) leads all skaters with 25 goals, 50 points, 5 game winning goals, and 2.38 points-per-game in 21 games this season. Bemidji State University commit Maddie Kaiser (21-27-48) sits second in league scoring with 48 points. Another NCAA commit in Makenna Williment (13-18-31) finds herself third in team scoring with 31 points on the season. Julianna DeGroot (3-14-17) leads the Balmoral d-core with 17 points. Shayna Bannister (7-8-15), a University of Manitoba commit, defenseman Darby Amundson (4-7-11) and forward Emma Power (6-4-10) are the only other Balmoral skaters with double digit point totals. Albertus Magnus College commit Lauren Cherkas (7-5-0) and Mimi Ferreira (5-3-1) have split the work in net, posting a .893 SV% and 3.59 GAA.

Despite the lack of wins, netminders Rehn Hall (1-6-1) and Sutter Reeves (2-8-1) both hold very respectable save percentages this season, combining for a .906 SV% with 1 shutout for Pilot Mound. Offence has been had to come by for PMHA, with Midland University commit Ashlyn Kuffler (5-10-15) leading the way with 10 assists and 15 points in 19 games. Sheigh Siemens (6-6-12) leads the team with 12 goals while Jayden Quinn (5-5-10) is the other Pilot Mound skater with 10-plus points on the season. Adrian College commit Addison Scoville (2-5-7) is tied with Sadie Swanton (2-5-7) as the team leaders among defensemen. Another ACHA and Midland University commit in Heidi Danners (0-5-5) sits right behind the duo in terms of defensemen scoring.

Saturday, February 8, 2025 – 1:30pm MST: GFL Twin Arena

Edge School (22-6-1) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (25-3-0) U15 Prep

The first place Northern Alberta Xtreme (Devon, AB) hold a 3-2 season series lead over third place Edge School (Calgary, AB), but it is the visitors who have won the last two meetings and hold an eight game winning steak heading into their matchup on Saturday.

Edge netminder Delano Pockar (12-2-0) sits fourth in the U15 Prep division with 12 wins, sixth with a .919 SV%, and seventh with a 2.51 GAA. Offensively, Edge does not have a skater inside the top 25 for points, instead relying on their depth that sees them have 12 players with 20-plus points and all but one skater has hit double digits. Luke Huska (13-23-26) leads the team with 36 points in 27 games this season, while Keagan Grant (14-17-31) and Grayson Bauer (10-20-30) sit third and fourth while both being on the plus side of 30. The Edge d-core has been a driving factor in their offence this season. Easton Perzylo (5-27-32) sits second in team scoring with Remy Koch (9-21-30) fourth and Ethan Parkinson (8-21-29) fifth. Among all ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ U15 Prep defenders they rank fourth, eighth, and ninth in scoring.

Matching the Edge production from the back-end for NAX are ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ January Player of the Month Cruz Jim (10-41-51), Nolan Wolitski (4-36-40) and Will Kelts (9-23-32), sitting first, third and fourth among all ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ U15 Prep defenders. Jim currently finds himself sixth all time for assists in a single season by a defensemen, five off the record held by 2023 NHL Draft first round pick Tanner Molendyk. A pair of NAX forwards find themselves atop the scoring leaderboard as Ahmad Fayad (22-38-60) is tied for the league lead, with Teagen Bouchard (20-37-57) sitting third. Easton Arndt (15-27-42) and Luka Samu (22-19-41) both find themselves inside the top 20 as the NAX offence has scored a league best 213 goals, 59 more than second ranked BWC Academy. Defensively, NAX has given up a league low 52 goals against this season. Karter Gibson (12-1-0) and Dawshon Sheehan (13-2-0) rank first and second with a 1.50 GAA and 2.09 GAA. Gibson’s .925 SV% ranks fourth, while his three shutouts are tied for the league lead.

For the 2024/25 season the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is proud to introduce the Coach of the Month Award for the three different ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ divisions: Eastern, West Female, and West Male.

“Since joining Okanagan Hockey Ontario, Pat has been an integral part in building our culture. He understands what it means to build relationships with student-athletes and to make sure they feel supported. He has created an environment where our student athletes can be themselves, be held accountable and know their coaches care for them while pushing them to be their best. His work ethic is second to none and he goes above and beyond each day and on travel weekends to make sure the players have everything they need to be successful. Lastly, he represents the Okanagan Hockey Group and the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ with class and respect.”

West Female Division –Ìý Annette Jensen, Edge School:

Annette was nominated by fellow ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ member program Balmoral Hall School program, who had the following to say:

“This month, Edge hosted the Female U18 Prep Division for a league showcase weekend, which ran incredibly smoothly. I’m nominating Annette for going above and beyond to assist another team and player in need. When we landed in Calgary, one of our players hockey bags didn’t arrive with the rest of the teams, and in the morning it still wasn’t anywhere to be found. I got on the phone with Annette less than 6 hours before game time to inquire about getting extra equipment to piece together for our player to still be able to participate in games that weekend. Annette went above and beyond to help find gear for our player, all while she was coaching her own teams game! It’s moments like these that remind us all of the importance to support each other, even if we’re playing against each other in games, we’re all on the same team when it comes to representing our league. Annette is a great ambassador for our league and she is very well deserving of the recognition as Coach of the Month.”

West Male Division – Robert & Jagger Dirk, Okanagan Hockey Academy:

“The West Male Division Coach of the Month is the father/son duo of Coaches Robert and Jagger Dirk of the OHA U18 Prep team. Their exemplary leadership and dedication to the team demonstrate the highest standards of coaching and mentorship.

The father-son dynamic between Coaches Robert Dirk and Jagger Dirk is a testament to their exceptional relationship, as well as their ability to work seamlessly together to support the growth and development of their players. Despite the usual challenges associated with high-level hockey — including short bench rotations due to illness, injuries, and player movements between affiliate teams — these coaches have consistently remained positive, encouraging, and focused on fostering an environment of learning and growth. When the team experiences setbacks, whether in practice or during games, their approach is constructive. Instead of reacting with frustration, they engage in thoughtful analysis, identifying areas for improvement and focusing on solutions.

They maintain high expectations and demand hard work from their players, yet they do so in a fair, unemotional manner. Any corrections made are constructive and without lingering negativity. There are no grudges; the focus is always on improvement and moving forward.

A noteworthy example of their attention to detail and commitment to player safety occurred during a recent practice. When rapid-fire shots were taken before the goalie had time to properly set up, Coach Robert made sure to address the situation, not only with the individual involved but also with the entire team. This commitment to maintaining a safe practice environment is something that often gets overlooked in hockey, but Coaches Robert and Jagger prioritize it, ensuring that all players, especially goalies, are protected.”

U15: Jayden Ni, Delta Hockey Academy White

In his first season in the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ the South Surrey, BC forward had a division best 9 goals and 13 points in 6 U15 games during the month of September.

U15 Prep: Chayse Fedoriuk, OHA Edmonton

The Sherwood Park, AB defenseman leads all skaters with 8 assists and 11 points through 4 games this season. His 3 goals are a division best among defensemen.

U17: Kesler Hamilton, RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna

During the month of September Hamilton led all skaters with 11 assists and 19 points in 8 games. The Kelowna, BC forward has chipped in 8 goals in his 8 games, while recording at least a point in every game this season.

U17 Prep: Jaggar John, OHA Edmonton

The 2024 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ U15 Prep Western Championship MVP picked-up where he finished off last season as he has a division best 14 points in 5 games with OHA Edmonton. The Saskatoon Blades third round pick at the 2024 WHL Draft has 4 goals and 10 assists on the season.

U18 Prep: River Arnason, RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg

Arnason leads all skaters with 5 goals while his 10 points are tied for the division lead. The Winnipeg, MB forward has recorded 84 points in 52 games the last two seasons, split between the U17 Prep and U15 Prep divisions.

Female U18 Prep: Maddie Kaiser, Balmoral Hall School

In her first season with Balmoral Kaiser has a division best 8 assists and 13 points in 3 games this season. The Winnipeg, MB forward spent the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons with St. Mary’s academy recording 38 points in 55 games.

Eastern U17: Sebastien Bourgeau, CIH Academy

The Orleans, ON netminder has played two games with CIH Academy this season going 2-0-0 with 1 shutout. His 2 wins, 1 shutout. 0.50GAA and .986SV% are all a division best.

Eastern U18: Jack Sangster, King’s-Edgehill School

Sangster leads the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Eastern U18 division with 7 goals and 9 points in 5 games this season. This is the Bedford, NS forwards first season in the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ.

Among the 23 players including 4 who have previously, or are set to play in the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ:

Maynard originally joined the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in 2020/21 with the Okanagan Hockey Academy (OHA) Female U17 Prep team. She would start the following season again there, before joining their Female U18 Prep team for the remainder of the season. In 2022/23 the Osoyoos, BC defenseman tallied 27 points in 29 games, brining her OHA career totals to 64 points in 64 games. Maynard joined RHA Kelowna for the 2023/24 Female U18 Prep season, posting 46 points in 30 games. Maynard will return to the RHA Kelowna Female U18 Prep team for the 2024/25 season.

A forward from East St. Paul, MB, McDonald spent the 2023/24 season with Balmoral Hall School, who were recently accepted into the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. McDonald will join RHA Kelowna for the 2024/25 season.

Primerano became the the first female-skater ever selected in a CHL Draft when the Vancouver Giants selected her in the 13th round, 268th overall at the 2022 WHL Draft. Primerano still has another year of eligibility left in the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ but graduated early to attend the University of Minnesota for the 2024/25 season.

In just two seasons in the Female U18 Prep division the North Vancouver, BC defender graduates from the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ as the most successful student-athlete in women’s history. Her 105 career assists are most all time among Female U18 Prep skaters while her 164 career points rank 1 back of the all-time record. Her 59 career goals are fourth most all-time, and most among defensemen, giving her the all-time career lead among defensemen in assists (105), goals (59) and points (164). This past season Primerano set the Female U18 Prep single season record, among all skaters, with 35 goals, 54 assists and 89 points in just 29 games to earn her second straight ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Female U18 Prep MVP Award.

Primerano represented Team Canada at the 2024 U18 Women’s World Championships, earning MVP, Best Defender, Tournament Allstar and Leading Scorer honours, setting the record for most points by a defender at one U18 Women’s Worlds (16) and most points by a Canadian at one U18 Women’s Worlds.

Sandilands has spent the last two season with the Edge School Female U18 Prep team. During the 2022/23 Female U18 Prep season the Carstairs, AB defender recorded 11 points in 30 games. This past season she finished with a career best 4 goals, 11 assists and 15 points in 22 games with the Edge Female U18 Prep team.
